Germany Announces Additional 101 Athletes for Paris 2024 Olympics, Including Full Rowing Squad

Frankfurt am Main, June 26, 2024 – The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has unveiled the nominations of 101 more athletes to represent Germany at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Among the newly announced athletes is the national rowing team, comprising 26 rowers: six women and 20 men, including three substitutes.

Women’s Rowing Team

The women’s team includes Alexandra Föster (single sculls W1x), and a formidable quadruple sculls W4x lineup featuring Pia Greiten, Leonie Menzel, Tabea Schendekehl, and Maren Völz.

Men’s Rowing Team

The men’s contingent is led by single sculler Oliver Zeidler, followed by Jonas Gelsen and Marc Weber in the double sculls M2x. The quadruple sculls M4x has Max Appel, Anton Finger, Tim Ole Naske, Julius Rommelmann, and Moritz Wolff. The pair M2- includes Julius Christ and Sönke Kruse. Additionally, the men’s eight with coxswain M8+ comprises Frederik Breuer, Benedict Eggeling, Laurits Follert, Torben Johannesen, Max John, Olaf Roggensack, Mattes Schönherr, Wolf Niclas Schroeder, and Jonas Wiesen.

A unique aspect of this year’s nomination is the inclusion of a five-man pool for the men’s quadruple sculls M4x, where one will serve as a substitute. The final decision on the substitute will be made after further evaluations.

Substitutes and Stand-by Athletes

Substitutes traveling to Paris are Frauke Hundeling and Jasper Angl. Additionally, stand-by substitutes Lisa Gutfleisch, Theis Hagemeister, and Felix Heinrich are ready to step in if necessary.

The Road to Paris

This latest round of nominations marks the third and final phase of athlete selection, exactly one month before the opening of the Games. The newly announced athletes join an already robust Team D, promising a dynamic mix of veteran Olympians and emerging talents ready to compete on the world stage.
